Accessibility Policy
Pattern Lab is committed to making our tools usable for everyone. This page describes our current accessibility practices and ongoing improvements.
Our commitment
We design and build Pattern Lab with accessibility in mind from the start. Our goal is to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards across the platform.
Keyboard navigation
All major features are accessible via keyboard. Studio shortcuts, modal dialogs, and gallery controls support tab navigation and standard keyboard interactions.
Screen readers
We use semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and descriptive alt text so screen-reader users can navigate and understand the interface. Pattern previews include textual descriptions of the system and parameters.
Color & contrast
The default dark theme maintains high contrast ratios for readability. Controls do not rely on color alone — icons, labels, and patterns provide redundant cues.
Motion & animation
Animated pattern previews respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. When enabled, all motion is disabled and static previews are shown instead.
